it was justified

above is the opening credits to one of my new favorite tv shows, "justified." we saw the first dvd of the first season on netflix and i haven't been able to get this song out of my head since.

i like this show because i like stories about the south. the characters have a strong sense of kinship and identity with place, which tends to get lost in a lot of modern stories. i love the southern drawl, the relaxed feel of the people. i like how the themes tend to be really big-picture, life-and-death situations. i've been really into crime fiction lately, but i also enjoy people who don't sweat the small stuff: in life and literature.

plus, this show is based on a series of short stories written in the 19th century. it's taking a western format, and a cowboy lead character, and putting it in our modern times. i love that. there are even horses in the credits. maybe i'm also feeling the spirit of ancestral kinship when watching it because i have ancestry linking me to the backwoods of kentucky, where these stories are set.

anyway, watch the video and go see the show. prepare to want to justify criminals in a 10-block radius of your neighborhood.

Megan--I just got into this show a few weeks ago, too! And I LOVE the song in the opening credits! Timothy Olyphant can come justify anyone for me. :) Glad you're liking it!
